They knocked Katie out for her wisdom teeth but I was amazed how quickly it was over. They came out to talk to me after what felt like only 20 minutes. I thought at first that something must have gone wrong but they were only there to tell me that she was ready to go. She seemed fine to me as the dentist went over all of the follow on instructions (I think he noticed that I was only half listening so he stopped and reminded me that Katie may not remember anything he was saying so I better pay attention...oops). It wasn't until we were walking down the hall that I looked back and noticed Katie was sliding along the wall so she could keep standing as she walked. Pretty funny stuff. I haven't had any of my wisdom teeth out yet but will probably have to give in and have it done in the next year or so...definitely going with the 'knock me out' method!

Having someone to take care of you is key I think. My friend Katie stayed with me all day which is good. I didn't need her but it was nice to know that if I did she was right there.

I was knocked out as well, and it was great. Closing my eyes and then feeling like I was opening them again a second later, but it was all over. The anesthesia made me very emotional though - as soon as I woke up I was kind of crying and asking for my friend. They dumped me off on him. The only negative was that, on the drive home, I started feeling nauseous, so he pulled over and I puked - all blood. That was pretty gross. But my friend was dedicated - he set timers and woke me up every 2 or 3 hours to give me meds or change my gauze. That's love. It was a good 2 days of hazy drug-induced coddling.
Highly recommended! Gotta have the friend, though, for these results.

DM had his out when I was 13 or 14. Our mom took care of him, and she said he was very compliant and sweet. Hard to imagine, now.

It isn't the best thing in the world but if you need to get them out you should. I would wait for dental insurance though. Mine wasn't cheap and I have insurance.

That was right after the incident. I had been home for about 15 minutes or so.

Congrats on filling my very soul with deep and abiding misery at the very mention of this proceedure. I gots four wisdom teeth and they're all impacted and they all hurt and they are all starting to crowd my other teeth and I'm going to have to have them all out. Its been this way for about five years now. A casual observer might be inclined to suggest that I have been putting it off because I am afraid of the pain, but this is categorically UNTRUE. I have been waiting for a.) a boy who will take care of me post-op and b.) dental insurance.

I don't wanna.

Glad to hear your extractions were mostly pain-free, though. I hate the game, not the player.

That's an awesome picture, dude. Drug induced stupor?

As you know, I've still got all my wisdom teeth. I'm hoping to hold on to them for as long as possible.

Horrible experience. Most pain I've ever had -- worse than any other surgery. I would wake up in the middle of the night post-surgery, my entire head throbbing from the blood flowing to my gums. Every bit of food felt like needles being shoved through my jaw. ugh. Terrible.
