Replaying Resident Evil 4 on Professional: Yikes!

Working on some plans for going back to school, getting a fancy degree and maybe, someday, having some money.

Spring.

2) Nine Inch Nails, Year Zero
Who knew Trent Reznor had anything left? The last time I owned a NIN cd was 1994 or thereabouts. Apparently, sobriety, turning 40, and the depradations of the Bush administration have energized the guy and caused him to finally drop the stale, tortured-teen-angst lyrical schtick that was getting old a decade and a half ago.

3) Jesu, Conqueror
This one took awhile to grow on me, because it was a shock to hear the same guy who started bands like Napalm Death and Godflesh actually singing instead of growling and bellowing. (Don’t worry, it’s still heavy as hell.)

4) Porcupine Tree, Fear of a Blank Planet
Pink Floyd meets Opeth. Yeah, you heard me.

Finishing the Great War for Civilization

I’ll just do a Portland edition of the crush list.
1. A full day trapsing about the city with my newish Holga camera.
2. Seeing lovely folks DM and Carrie.
3. Bacon donuts
4. Powells (I don’t know if we are actually going there this time, but I’m happy just knowing it’s there.)
5. Fun and different shops filled with fun and different things.

1) We’re taking the Coast Highway down the entire length of the Oregon and Northern California coasts (Hello, Redwoods NP), staying with friends in the Bay Area for a few days, then heading east on I-80 through the Tahoe area.

2) Then the part I’m really jazzed about: we leave the interstate and drive 500 miles of US 50 through the Nevada and Utah deserts.

3) On US 50, we stop for a couple of days at Great Basin NP. This is perhaps the stop I’m most looking forward to, because it’s supposedly one of the most beautiful parks in the country, but virtually deserted because it’s so far out in the middle of absolute nowhere. Anyone been there?

4) Then we hook up with I-70 in Utah and swing through Capitol Reef, Canyonlands, and Arches.

5) Then on to Colorado, where we will hit Black Canyon of the Gunnison and Rocky Mountain.

6) After hauling ass through all the boring flat states, we stop off in Adirondack Park, before finishing our journey with a few days in the East’s most beautiful NP, Maine’s own Acadia.

Total trip: roughly 4,500 miles and oh, maybe three weeks.

(Hmmm, maybe I should be concentraing more on, I don’t know, finding a job when I get there…)
