I know, but I'm sure that is what definition Irsay meant. I suppose a player could use any definition of the word, though.

While I wouldn't want it emblazoned on my ring, "faith" doesn't necessarily imply Christianity or faith in god. But yeah.. that's a lot of diamonds.

Is it too early to start making predictions for next year?

Hell no, it isn't! This is football!

Here's my first prediction: Indy, New England, and San Diego will be the class of the AFC (and hence, NFL.) Yeah, I know that's really bold of me. :P

Interestingly, the answer to which of these three teams wins the AFC (and hence, Superbowl) this year boils down to the same position for each team: cornerback. How will the Colts respond to losing both starting corners? Will the Pats manage to re-sign or find an adequate replacement for Asante Samuel? The Chargers have a dominant front seven, but their secondary got burned on numerous occasions last year, and Quentin Jammer has yet to become the elite corner everyone thought he would be. With all three teams absolutely loaded on offense, cornerback may be the make-or-break position.

Cincinnati, Baltimore, and Denver comprise the AFC's second tier. Any of the three could go to the SB if things break their way, but Cincy has numerous off-field issues, Baltimore has a 112-year old QB, and Denver has underachieved mightily the past few years.

As for the NFC...honestly, it's like trying to handicap the Eastern Conference in the NBA; everyone is just fighting for the right to be clobbered in the title game. For the record, I think Seattle and New Orleans are the class of the conference. If Chicago gets any semblance of competent play from the QB position, they'll be right back in the mix too.

I like the look of the ring. I like that they choose to not put how many diamonds based on championships they have one. I think it was a good idea to start fresh.

As for the word faith I don't know how I feel about it. I understand it. Maybe the non-christians think of it as faith in themselves or the team not necessarily a higher power.

I wish I could have a ring.
