I get my wisdom teeth removed tomorrow at 9am. All four. I’m freaking out! Great I get to take happy pills. Great I’m going to lose 10 pounds in a week flat. Great I don’t have to go to work until next Monday of next week. BUT….I’m totally scared! My last surgery was when I was like 9 years old and had my tonsils removed. I still have nightmares about that day. “Look at the ducky Joey and fall asleep.” Then waking up alone in a scary hospital bed without my mom by my side (the moment I woke up she finally had left my side to go eat after several hours of waiting.) Why is that one of my limited childhood memories??? Damn you brain! Well…wish me luck everybody. And…..flowers are always nice =) Wink Wink Nudge Nudge! FLOWERS!!!
Update~
I went into surgery at 9am yesterday, very nervous. Things I remember: laying there waiting for them to start on me (a good 15-20 minutes). The Dr. coming in and hooking me up to the IV. I felt the drugs go into my arm (must be what taking steroids feels like. All warm and uncomfortable). The room started spinning and I told myself, “Well…here we go.” Waking up near the end of the surgery to “Bang Bang Bang CRACK.” That was the sound of my teeth being worked on. Thought to myself, “if you open your eyes more they will know you are awake, but if they know you are awake then they might stop. You don’t want them to stop. You want to get the hell out of here.” Then I remember getting up and stumbling to another room to meet my Chris.
The first day at home sucked! Trying to figure out the gauze, the pills, food. Ugh! At one point (DON’T read if you get sick easily) I projectile vomited all over the bathroom wall. It was like a fire hose. My best boy said “no problem”, put me back on to my “hospital couch” and cleaned up the bathroom.
Feeling OK this morning. Hopefully it’s all up hill from here. I must say that I have the best partner in the whole wide world. Chris has done everything for me. I love him very much and I am so lucky to have him in my life.
PS~ Here are the beautiful flowers I got from the gang yesterday =) THANK YOU!!!

Where will you be? I’ll be thinking about you. I have all four of mine still in my head and they need to come out too so I expect a full report! I’ve been putting it off since mine all came in ok but now they are getting cavities and it is too hard and too expensive to put fillings in them. Remind me to tell you about the time that I picked Katie up from the dentist after they had drugged her to yank a few of her wisdom teeth. That was pretty funny.
You’ll do great Joey!
Hey, I got mine yanked out, and it wasn’t so bad. My advice: go under. You don’t want to be awake.
Yeah, you’ll have to be carried home, and yeah, you’ll be unconscious for 24 hours, but fuck it. I barely remember the experience, and I’m glad.
Good luck!
Worst. Surgery. Ever. Drugs are fun and ease the pain.
