Because I love each and every one of you, here’s a mix of songs from this top 10 that you can stream.
Last.fm stats are skewed, in that 1) they don’t distinguish between album (artist only), so bands like Ratat and Tim Hecker that have some great albums from year’s past rank highly, and 2) number of listens is positively correlated to the number of tracks on an album. All this is neither here nor there.
More fun: my listening habits in visual form for 2008.
One Response for "My 20 Favorite Albums of 2008"
Thanks, as always, for the list. I ordered a couple of these as soon as I read the post. It seemed like this was kind of a year for “fun” music, as opposed to outrageously experimental stuff. (TVoTR being, perhaps, the exception.) Not that there’s anything wrong with that, of course, but I’m kind of wondering why that is. My theory, off hand, would be that the socio-political-economic situation is so fucked up right now that perhaps we needed something to take our minds off of everything. Just a thought.
